Systems Thinking as a Model for Educating Students to benefit from Distance Education Methodology: Are students prepared to learn online?
Dr. Gerald Goodman, Associate Professor, Health Care Administration-Houston
Given the many pluses of distance education, are we as faculty spending enough time training students in how to best learn in a distance education format? Are we so engaged in better ways to navigate our course sites and to use the latest technology tool, that we have lost sight of the cultural impact from the adoption of information technology on the organization itself, and in the case of education, on faculty and students? This presentation will be framed around a discussion of distance learning technology and methodology and the core competencies that are required for the student if they are to benefit from both distance learning methodology of teaching and the course technical content itself.
