Instructor Introduction

The Faculty Information menu item is where you will give your initial introduction to the class. Your introduction can be formal to only include your academic qualifications and contact information or, it could be more relaxed and includes a more personable angle to include family facts and hobbies. Some faculty will use the Faculty Information menu to put their formal introduction in and will use the Discussion Board for a lead off for class introductions and start with their own informal introduction.

There is no right way to do introductions except to leave the area blank. The only recommendation is to have your contact information in both the Faculty Information and Discussion Board areas. Remember to include all avenues of contact for on-campus students and off-campus students. A complete mailing address and including your area code for the out of area student is useful. For the on campus student a mail stop and departmental office number for the students to contact if you are unavailable.

In your introductions whether it is formal or informal you will want to make clear to the students that you care about their success in your class and how you can help. Stress your availability through the different contact means and encourage the students to make full use of you as a resource.
