Adding a Banner to a Blackboard Course
Instructors have the ability to personalize their Blackboard course by adding a banner to the top of the Announcements page. The banner may contain the course title, graphical image, or anything else that relates to your course.
Banners are an easy way to personalize a course and add a graphical element that will be seen on the default course entry point. We suggest programs consider using banners to brand the program. This means adding the banner to all courses in the program so students know immediately that the course is part of the program.
To give you an idea how a banner appears, see below:

Banner created by TWU Lifelong Learning.
Note: You must first use a Graphics Editing program (Paint is one example) to create the banner. You could also use PowerPoint to create a banner. The banner must be in either a “.jpeg” or “.gif” file format. The recommended maximum size for a Course Banner is 450 pixels wide by 120-200 pixels high at 72 or 96 pixels per inch. Banners must be in .jpg, .png or .gif format or they will not display properly on the web.
Setting it Up.
1. Enter the Blackboard course and access the Control Panel.

2. Under the Course Options section, click on the Course Design link.
3. On the Course Design page, click on the Course Banner link.
4. Click the Browse button beside the New banner image field to select the banner file.
Note: To remove an existing banner from the course, leave the New banner image field blank, check the Remove this banner box and click the Submit button.
5. Click the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
6. Click the OK button to acknowledge the addition of the banner to the course. Next time you open your course, you should see the banner appear.
